Terms and Conditions

When entering the 2018 Rearch4Research Ballarat Cycle Classic, you accept the following:

I understand that cycling on public roads is a potentially hazardous activity. I attest that I am physically fit and that my bike is in sound mechanical order prior to undertaking the event. During this event I agree to wear a cycling helmet, abide by the road rules, obey directions of the police officers and route marshals and ride with care and consideration of others on the road. In consideration of Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute permitting me to enter and participate in the Ballarat Cycle Classic, and as a condition of such entry, I release Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute, its servants and agents from all claims for injury, loss or damage of whatever kind I might suffer as a result of any acts or omission whether negligent or otherwise of Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute, its servants or agents in relation to the event. I understand  children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a cycling adult or cycling as a member of a school group, club or team.

The information supplied by me is correct, no false details have been given and I understand that some of the details I provide here will be displayed on this site for the public to view. I also agree that Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute accepts no responsibility for damage caused as a result of entering online.

The event is supported by volunteer marshals, Victoria Police and traffic management infrastructure and staff. Participants must obey road rules and the instructions issued by event staff at all times while participating.

All participants must:

  • Obey all road rules at all times.
  • Ride safely and in control.
  • Look out for hazards and point out hazards to those around you.
  • Obey the instructions of Event Marshals and Traffic Controllers.
  • Keep to the left of the road at all times, particularly when no lines exist

  • Not use mobile phones, walkmans or iPods etc while riding.

No Racing or large pelotons

The Ride4Research event is a non-competitive mass participation ride; therefore there must be no racing. Riders should not ride in large pelotons (no pelotons larger than 20 are permitted on open roads). If two pelotons are riding together, they should allow approximately 0.5km between.

Cut-off time

The course will be serviced by support staff from 8.00am until 1pm. For the safety of cyclists and volunteers a cut-off time will be imposed at Dunnstown at 1pm. Cyclists should consider this cut-off time and their cycling fitness levels when entering. Cyclists who arrive at Dunnstown after 1pm will be able to continue along the course but there will not be marshals after this time.

Unfortunately your registration fee is non-refundable, but if you’re unable to do the event, rest assured that 100% of your registration fee has gone straight to the cause anyway! Letters of cancellations should be addressed to
